Outlining the minor connectors

The minor connectors that unite the direct retainers, indirect retainers, and denture base to the major connector are evaluated (Figure 8-41).

  1. Minor connectors must be rigid, except for the approaching arms of bar and gingival clasps.
  2. When placing minor connectors, considerations include patient comfort, ease of cleaning, and facilitation of artificial tooth placement.
